Sheffield Wednesday: Midfielder Extends Contract
Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jarvis Thornton has signed a new two-year deal with the club. The 20-year-old made 27 appearances in all competitions last season, including 12 league starts, and his progress has been recognized by extending his contract.
Sporting director Simon Wilson expressed optimism about Thornton's future: 'This new contract reflects our belief in Jarvis and gives him the platform to continue his development.'
Sheffield United: Target's Future Uncertain
Leicester City manager Russell Martin has made it clear that he is keen to retain Harry Souttar, who has been a target for Sheffield United. However, Martin also took aim at Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, by mentioning him in his comments.
Martin stated: 'I wouldn't usually comment on people staying or going but we have an opposition manager in Chris - who I really like - who keeps talking about one of our players. But right now there's literally nothing to talk about.'
Leicester City has fielded a couple of offers for Souttar, who previously had a successful loan spell at Sheffield United. The Australian international’s future remains uncertain as he considers his options.
York City: New Signing
York City have signed left-back Harry Boyes from Southend United in what appears to be a competitive signing after Notts County also showed interest. Boyes, who was born in Barnsley, brings valuable experience and versatility to the team, having played for multiple clubs including Barnsley and Southend.
The move is seen as a significant addition to York City's squad, providing them with an experienced defender who can contribute both offensively and defensively.
