Sheffield United's hopes of re-signing Kyle Walker are hanging in the balance, a report has claimed. The 36-year-old could take a substantial wage cut to grease the wheels for a homecoming. Walker started his career in South Yorkshire having ascended the Sheffield United youth ranks. After a taste of senior football at Bramall Lane, he moved on to reach dizzy heights and become one of the world's elite defenders. Walker joined Burnley on a two-year deal last summer, but the Clarets were relegated from the top flight. It now remains to be seen whether there is a determination on both sides for a homecoming deal to be reached over the course of the summer. Walker has expressed his desire to play for Sheffield United again, saying it would be a 'dream' to pull on the red and white of the club. He told The Overlap that he would like to keep playing for another few years and that it's always been a dream to play for Sheffield United again. Walker's current deal at Burnley may be a hurdle to overcome, but the 36-year-old is feeling good and is determined to continue playing for a few more years. He said: 'I'd like to keep playing for another few years. It's always been a dream to play for Sheffield United again. To start there at six years old and then leaving at 19 – I spent so many incredible years there. I hope to play for them again. I don't know when that will be. I don't know if they will want me.'
