Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says the club are in talks with Leicester City over signing defender Harry Souttar.
Central defenders Mark McGuinness and Nils Zätterström are not in Wilder's plans for the upcoming season. Wilder told BBC Sport: "We can't just go in with Japh and Jamal, two centre-halves for this season."
What's happening with the current squad?
Sheffield United have been considering their options for the new season, with Wilder keen on adding more depth in defence. Nils Zätterström needs to go out on loan, and Mark McGuinness is not part of the plans going forward.
What about new signings?
Wilder revealed that the club have already had conversations with Leicester about taking Harry Souttar, and the conversations will be ongoing. Souttar is a player that Wilder obviously likes, and he had a great time on the pitch with Sheffield United and off the pitch with the supporters.
What's next for the Blades?
Sheffield United continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 win over Rotherham, and Wilder is looking to add more depth on the left wing, with Rabbi Matondo on trial with the club. Wilder said: "We're speaking to him, and we'll see where that goes." Harrison Burrows and Tyrese Campbell missed the game, with Wilder explaining that Burrows had a tight quad and Campbell worked away remotely.
