Sheffield United midfielder Alex Matos is on the verge of signing for Göztepe. The Turkish media claim Matos has agreed on a move to Göztepe despite only arriving at Bramhall Lane last summer.

What happened?

Sheffield United have reached an agreement to sell the attacking midfielder. Matos is now expected to travel to Turkey this week to complete his move to Göztepe subject to a medical.

Why it matters for Sheffield United

The transfer fee hasn’t been disclosed at this stage. Matos signed a three-year deal with the Blades in September, but was loaned out to Oxford United in January.

What comes next?

With the pending departure of Anthony Dennis, the 23-year-old is expected to fill the void left by the Nigerian. Coventry City have already made an offer for Dennis, which was rejected. Göztepe are looking for offers in the region of €7m for the 22-year-old.
