He clarified that he would not weaken the team unnecessarily. “If I thought we were really weakening our team, I don’t think I’d do that, but we have players at a good level; pre-season showed that, so this is their opportunity to play in the first-team in the Carabao Cup and do well enough to make me start them in the next league game or to bring them off the bench to impact the game.”
